This year, moving on from achieving the Healthy School Award, we are continuing our focus on the physical and mental health of all of our School community. One aspect of this is participation in the Daily Mile and increased physical activity. To encourage this, the School wished to gift every child a pedometer, which could be worn whilst in school to log activity. The School Council arranged for a whole sponsored run to raise funds.
Our Councillors organised sponsorship forms and information letters and suggested that if every child in school raised just £2, we would raise almost £500 altogether.
On the last day of Spring 2, everyone came dressed to run and participated, with their class, using our all-weather track.
From our youngest pupils in Nursery to our oldest in Year 6, each class ran around our all-weather track as many times as they could. There was a great effort from all involved and a wonderfully fun way to end our half term.
At the end of the event, we had raised an amazing £1000!
As this has far exceeded our expectations, we will be using the extra money to restock our musical instruments.
