The Orchards was proud to open it’s doors for the first time in September 2016 for primary aged children with special needs.
The school is temporarily based in Acre Hall’s old building before moving to the £5 million purpose built school in the M32 postcode.
The school caters for pupils, who have complex needs and speech and communication difficulties including those with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SCLN), Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
Through a variety of innovative approaches such as speech and language therapy, state of the art technology the school aims to provide a completely personalised curriculum which is truly child and interest led.
The school’s specialisms are creativity and sport and we have recruited experts and ‘mentors’ within this field who we are looking forward to working with to enhance the curriculum and the opportunities and experiences of the pupils.
The Orchards will emphasise lifelong learning and prepare all learners for a successful transition into secondary education.
